What is ED?
ED is the inability to get or maintain an erection. It is a common problem among men, usually starting around 40 years of age and increasing with age. At age 40, 40% of men acknowledged some degree of ED.
What are some causes of ED?

· Testosterone deficiency
· Relationship issues, Anxiety, Depression
· Diabetes

· Use of certain prescription (blood pressure medications, antidepressants, antipsychotics) or recreational drugs
What are some medications to treat ED?
· Sildenafil (Viagra) – long record of safety, and should be taken about 60 minutes prior to sexual activity. Duration is about 4-5 hours. Must be taken on empty stomach.
· Tadalafil (Cialis) – daily medication, can take with or without food, longer duration of action
Who cannot take these medications?
· Those who are not healthy enough for sexual activity (severe heart failure, heart disease)
· Anyone taking nitroglycerin and certain prostate medications like tamsulosin
